George Strait is often called the King of Country, although it might be more appropriate to call him the King of Music. Since beginning his career in 1981, Strait has amassed 59 number-one hit singles, more than any other performer in any other genre throughout the history of music. George Strait is recognized by his unique western swing style, blending fresh harmonies and lyrics with traditional country. Perhaps Strait's greatest period was from 1989 to 1990, when he was awarded consecutive CMA Entertainer of the Year awards. By the 2000s, George Strait tickets had become a coveted item in the country music scene, fueled largely by Strait's induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Strait was born in 1952 in Poteet, Texas, and started getting interested in music while in high school. Although he started in rock and roll, Strait soon gravitated towards country music. Somewhat ironically as George Strait tickets are now one of the fastest selling items in country music, Strait was introduced to country music through live shows in his area. Strait is set to tour the United States in 2013 for a short tour called the "Cowboy Rides Away Tour." The tour kicks off on February 2nd in Las Vegas, NV and continues through 15 stops before concluding in San Antonio, TX on June 1st, 2013.
